Inside one of the temples in Sukhothai, Thailand were these two puppies. They were hiding within the walls of one of the ruins and certainly couldn’t have been more than a few weeks old. The mother was nowhere to be seen and the little guys seemed to just want to curl up and sleep. I tried to find them again the next day but they were no longer there.

Exploring Ayutthaya is a different experience by day than by night. At day, the blazing sun scorches the tourists as local relax, paint and play around the temples. By night, they are beautifully lit but abandoned by everyone. The best way to do is by bike - it also helps to avoid the numerous hungry, angry barking dogs. In this case, I was visiting Wat Phra Sri San Phe. We shared a meal with a local guard was nearby, who unfortunately didn’t speak much english. It was a serene and beautiful experience.

Chiang Mai, Thailand is an beautiful city. What makes it beautiful, is not the city itself which is becoming increasingly modern, but the surrounding area. Tall mountains, diverse cultures, flowing rivers all surround it and contrast it with the metropolitan Bangkok. It is there that I took a two-day trek to explore local villages. On the second day we came upon this waterfall. The water was crystal-clear and warm. I think it was especially refreshing after having hiked than entire morning. The water flows much stronger than you would imagine and standing underneath some areas can easily knock you off your feet.

On October 4th, 2008 Pittsburgh celebrated 250 years of being a city with fireworks. And they went all out. Downtown was shut down as seventeen firework locations were set up along the rivers, from barges and even from rooftops of buildings. It was a fantastic sight spining in circles trying to take it all. No one set of fireworks was particularly impressive, but the combined experience was certainly very memorably and well executed. Congrats, and thanks for a great night, Pittsburgh.

Surrounding the Killing Fields in Phnom Penh, Cambodia is a modern school. The Killing fields themselves are fenced off but the kids run up to a few opening in the bushes and watch the visitors. They’ll mess around and play and ask to have their photo taken. At which point a few of them might pester you for money while others seem to genuinely enjoy having their photo taken. I took this shot as they were trying to organize themselves for a group photo.

I know it has been much too long since I’ve written a post. In way, this is ironic since I’ve also done more shooting this past summer than I have the rest of the year. But a lot has changed as well.
In May, I left my full time job in Vancouver. I spent the summer shooting a few engament sessions, four weddings, enjoying time on the beach and preparing for a new adventure. This new adventure is where I am now.
I have started a Masters program in Carneige Mellon Unversity in Pittsburgh in HCI. This program will last until 2010 with 2009 being spent on the Portugese island of Madiera. I also plan to do some travelling in the summer of 2009.
I really don’t know this will affect my photography over the coming years. I’m tempted to say there won’t be much in the way of weddings and fashion photography but…why close doors, you never know what’ll happen in Europe! At the very least, I plan to focus on my passion for photojournalism and document the people, places and adventures that are bound to come up. I hope to shoot in Vancouver again one day, but who know when that’ll be.
So the plan now is to unleash my backlog of wedding, engament and personal photos to the site over the next couple months and then keep it updated during my travels.
On April 20th, Gary Lee and Catherine Jollymore were married in Vancouver. I had the pleasure of being one of the two photographers (as well as a guest) at the wedding. It was a fantastic day and a pleasure to shoot. I have posted my photos at the link below.
Seeing as to how I have another wedding or two coming up this summer I will probably add a wedding section to the website.
But in the meantime, enjoy the photos!

I’ve added a new shot from my trip to South East Asia. This was taken in the beautiful town of Luang Prabang in Laos looking out at the Mekong River which flower around the town.

I’ve added a few new headshots intended for coprorate use. The clients were financial managers at RBC Bank. I set up the studio in their beautiful downtown condo with Ann Evans taking care of the hair and make up work.

Now that I finally have lots of pictures to post, there’s a backlog of them. I still have plenty of shots from my South East Asia trip to sort through with more than few that deserve to be posted online. I did some corporate headshots a couple weekends ago which need to be added. But, most importantly, I shot my first wedding this past weekend of my dear friend Gary Lee and his wife Catherine. I have been quite pleased with the results so far and look forward to putting together a very solid album for the new couple. It was a fantastic wedding and a tough day of shooting. Somehow, I managed to fully enjoy both. On top of all this, I have a few engagement sessions to do in the coming weeks.
I also had the pleasure last week of meeting with Jennifer and David of Judy INC who are going to open an agency in Vancouver sometime over the summer. They were fantastic people and I look forward to a chance to work with them in the future.
