Biography
I was born in Kharkov, Ukraine in 1982 and immigrated to Vancouver with my family in 1989 as the Soviet Union was breaking up.
My interest in photography can be attributed to my grandfather. He served for the Red Army in WWII until being struck by shrapnel to the leg. He became a war photographer once he healed and his photos were my introduction into the field of photography.
With my first SLR in hand, I pursued my hobby around town and in my travels. I grew to love the process, the creative outlet and - occasionally - the final results. I knew this would be something I would want to study and pursue more seriously to regularly obtain results I was truly happy with.
Fast forward a few years and a friend-turned-model invited me to photograph a fashion show. This opened a new field to me and one I have been involved in with great passion ever since.
I love the rush of capturing an event and the creativity behind setting up a shoot. To me, it's about the little micro-moments of emotion. Those little details where people really reveal themselves make for the most authentic photos.
I've been shooting part-time around Greater Vancouver till August 2008 and now can be found in Pittsburgh, PA.
